Welcome to Hollywood...Jr.
Filmmakers Workshop / 2018
Welcome to the ForkShop, a community of filmmakers, actors, industry professionals and students here in Atlanta. We come together to practice, learn, shoot short films, network and develop content and relationships that will advance us all in our field. And we have a pretty good time.
We have people from all levels of experience - those who've never held a camera or stepped foot in front of one, to others who've worked on big budget blockbusters in Hollywood. Here at the ForkShop, we believe in a more hands-on learning experience. In other words, we believe the best way to learn about the filmmaking industry is to get out there with a camera of any kind and shoot something. Whether we are making a new short, or shooting behind the scenes footage of a workshop, we are always shooting. When we’re not behind the camera, we’re learning in workshops. Periodically, we invite industry experts to teach at a meeting. Our workshops vary in topics such as:
Filmmakers, like all artists, need to practice to perfect their craft. We are all growing and learning. Each of our meetings is a chance for screenwriters, actors and filmmakers to come out and exercise their filmmaking muscles. We accept short simple script submissions from members and guests. Anyone who comes can participate in the crew, as we have many positions available each time. We offer opportunities for actors to come, receive speaking roles and gain footage for their reels. We workshop the scripts, hearing suggestions from the group, and shoot. One of our members edit the pieces and we have a showing of our films before they go up on our site, and are made available to all for their own portfolios. Each meeting is different with a rainbow of different personality types. No meeting is ever dull. And we always have a lot of fun. So, feel free to come out to one of our posted events if you'd like to see the filmmaking process in action or take a class. If you're an actor looking to get some footage for your reel, or just practice in, send us a message. We're always looking for talent and we’re always willing to support a fellow member in their journey. If you’re a screenwriter, send us something you’ve written. All submissions are read and considered for production (but no 16th century ship battles please, the more likely we can create the setting/scene, and interesting the story, the more likely we are to shoot it). So what are you still reading this for? Go, explore! Check out a few of the films we've shot recently, and consider coming out to a shoot. You never know what awaits until you try. |
